ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Tuesday is primary day and two democrats in the New York Assembly's 102nd district race are trying to move on to the November general election. Janet Tweed is a healthcare worker and a village board trustee.
Tweed says her top priorities are infrastructure, the environment and healthcare. Specifically cutting the red tape.
"Continuing to push forward and to work to get the New York Health Act to go forward. It's a single insurance company so that all New Yorkers are covered," said Tweed. He adds, "when we are spending less time trying to figure out which services are available, how much they cost and getting all those pre-authorizations and paperwork done, we get to spend more time with patients." Tweed says that's better for patients and healthcare workers.
She sat down with News10 to discuss the issues facing the 102nd district.
