RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A local county has new technology to help count the votes in this year's election. Rensselaer County leaders accepted new voting machines on Friday.
The machines come from Clear Ballot Systems. Officials said they are more efficient and more accessible to people with special needs.
They can be brought to voters who may not be able to get to the polls. Officials said it will make the election process easier for everyone.
"They're not specific to a location," Rensselaer County Exec. Steve McLaughlin said. "So these machines could go to Schaghticoke, they could go to Stephentown, they could go to Berlin. Whereas before, we had to have those machines programmed for those locations. That's not the case any longer. That's a huge step forward."
The New York State Board of Elections tested and approved the machines last year.
