ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York’s June 25th primary is nearing and candidates in one local State Assembly race are gearing up for quite the battle. Six democrats are trying to replace Pat Fahy, who’s running for State Senate.
One of those candidates is Albany Common Council member Owusu Anane. He's a special education teacher and business owner. He says keeping the Pine Hills neighborhood economically strong is vital for the city, especially with College of Saint Rose closing.
"When we heard about the closure we held a town hall we spoke with many residents and they are passionate about this community," said Anane. He adds, "I'm going to work tooth and nail to make sure that the St. Rose real estate space is well taken cared of to really benefit all of the city of Albany because as the pine hills go so does the rest of the city."
Anane discussed the issues facing the 109th district with News10 ABC.
