ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York’s June 25th primary is nearing and candidates in one local State Assembly race are gearing up for quite the battle. Six democrats are trying to replace Pat Fahy, who’s running for State Senate.
One of those candidates is Andrew Joyce. He served in Iraq and has been a member of the Albany County Legislature since 2016. One of the biggest issues facing the district is what to do with the buildings of the former College of Saint Rose.
Joyce says there are many option including using the land for recreation, performing arts, education and housing. "We're in the middle of a housing crisis and there's plenty of housing availability there as well," said Joyce.
He adds, "doing it publicly, doing it deliberately where the public has input I think is important."
Joyce sat down with News10 ABC to discuss the issues facing the 109th district.
