ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York’s June 25th primary is nearing and candidates in one local State Assembly race are gearing up for quite the battle. Six democrats are trying to replace Pat Fahy, who’s running for State Senate.
One of them is Dustin Reidy. He's been on the Albany County Legislature for two terms and worked on the campaigns of Representative Paul Tonko.
A top issue for Reidy is crime. "We do need to take a good look and approach the table and look at what adjustments we can make to raise the age and bail reform to make the laws more effective and make our streets safer," said Reidy.
Reidy says any anti-crime initiative must include getting guns of the streets. He adds, "I've been very proud to introduce legislation fighting gun violence in the county legislature. I work on something called the discover program with sheriff Apple."
The democrat sat down with News10 ABC to discuss the issues facing the 109th district.
